DEPARTMENT OF ISLAMIC SCIENCES
The department of Islamic sciences was founded in 1995. In the period of formation of the facultyin 1995, some professors from the various universities of Turkey were invited to the department of Islamic sciences. Their support helped on the formation of the department. But since 2005/2006 academic year the lecturers in the department have mainly been consisted of the Azerbaijanis who defended their ThDegrees at the universities of Turkey.But now all of the lecturers ,except the chief of the department ,are the local citizens. There eight lecturers in the department of Islamic sciences. Seven of them are ThDs, one of them is ThD,docent.
According to the agreement between the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan and Turkish Republic all the Azerbaijani lecturers were provided with staff jobs in the faculty.
At present there are 7 lecturers are on staff, 2 out of staff and a research assistant in the department.
Being the ThD all lecturers in the department are busy with scientific-research work. There are following subjects on the education curriculum of the department :

The results of the scientific-research works in the department are practically applied to the process of education. The technical base of the department is in a satisfactory position.
The marking of the students’ knowledge by the lecturers are always controlled by the chief of the department . In the department assembly the marking process, the filling rules of exam papers are often discussed by the lecturers. The course and the diploma (final) work themes are chosen by the lecturers, discussed and submitted in the department assembly and then distributed among the students. The course and diploma work themes are defended in a certain periods before a special committee. The course and diploma works are mainly devoted to very actual problems of Islamic sciences.
Besides the lecturers of Islamic sciences E.Mahmudov and Q.Salimly organized a scientific –research centre “ Elm yurdu” ( Science land) where they have scientific seminars for the young researchers and students for all the faculties of BSU.
